Complete and Partial Dentures in Phoenix, AZ

Dentures have long been a reliable restorative dentistry option, replacing multiple missing teeth or an entire dental arch in one comprehensive treatment. Dr. John W. Dovgan offers comfortably fitting, custom dentures, which can enable you to eat your favorite foods and speak with renewed function. For ultimate stability, he also provides implant-supported dentures. As an experienced implant dentist, he can even perform implant surgery at his Phoenix, AZ, office, ensuring you receive the highest quality care from start to finish. No matter which type of denture you choose, Dr. Dovgan will work closely with our local laboratory to ensure your restoration matches your facial proportions and the natural curvature of your lips.

While traditional dentures are held in place with dental adhesive and natural suction, implant-supported dentures are superior in stability and durability.

Dentures are individually crafted prosthetics, available in different sizes. Dr. Dovgan offers three types of dentures.

  • traditional full denture will replace all of your teeth on your top or bottom arch or both. Its plastic base will fit securely around your gums and will match the color of your soft tissues. In most cases, you will need to use a special dental adhesive.
  • traditional partial denture will also be removable, but it may be more appropriate if you still have some strong, healthy teeth remaining. Along with a plastic base, this type of denture will often come with tiny clasps, which will keep it securely attached to nearby teeth.
  • Implant-supported dentures are available as both full and partial restorations. This restoration will attach to implant posts, so it will never shift out of position.

At your consultation, Dr. Dovgan can evaluate your teeth, gums, and jawbone to help determine which option is best for you.

We recognize that dentures can have a dramatic impact on your life, so we work hard to provide the best possible look and fit. At your consultation, Dr. Dovgan will take impressions of your gums and, if applicable, your remaining teeth. He will also take a detailed series of photos, sending all information to our partner lab. There, the technicians will use the images and impressions to design a fully customized prosthetic. Once it has arrived at our office approximately two weeks later, you can come in for a fitting. If needed, Dr. Dovgan can make slight adjustments for stability and comfort.

In addition to restoring your smile, dentures can also fill out your lips and cheeks for a more youthful appearance.

If you decide on an implant-supported denture, Dr. Dovgan will begin with a detailed treatment planning session. He will determine your candidacy for implant surgery by evaluating your overall health and the shape of your jaw. If you have sustained jawbone atrophy, he can decide if whether a bone grafting procedure is necessary, and he can assess the best places for implant posts. During dental implant surgery, he can place between six and eight posts in your jaw while you are sedated. As your jaw heals over four to six months, we can provide a temporary restoration for increased comfort and function. Once you have recovered, Dr. Dovgan can attach your custom denture. The ceramists will craft your implant-supported denture with the same precision and artistry that they use for traditional prosthetics.

Dentures can dramatically restore your appearance and oral function. With your new smile, you will be able to eat normally and speak more clearly. In addition to restoring your smile, dentures can also fill out your lips and cheeks for a more youthful appearance.

Implant-supported dentures offer further benefits. First, they offer superior stability and will never move around in your mouth. The implants will also generate new bone growth, sending out the same regenerative signals as your natural dental roots. Thus, they can eliminate jawbone recession and even more widespread tooth loss. Finally, because your jaw will remain the same shape, your denture will always have the same secure and comfortable fit.
